Movensys, a company specializing in software-based motion control solutions, announced that it has appointed Dr. Minha Hwang, Principal Applied Scientist at Microsoft, and Henry Chung, CEO of KAIST Venture Investment Holdings (hereinafter “KVI”), as outside directors following a recent extraordinary general shareholders’ meeting.

Dr. Hwang and Mr. Chung bring distinctive expertise and extensive hands-on experience in their respective fields—global AI technology applications and venture investment & technology entrepreneurship. These appointments are part of a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening the technological competitiveness of Movensys’s core control solution, “WMX,” by integrating cutting-edge AI technologies to secure future growth engines. Chairman Boo-Ho Yang stated that this decision aligns with the company’s management philosophy of “We strive to Reshape Society through Relentless Technological Innovation.” and represents a step forward in pursuing a technology-driven management strategy.

Dr. Minha Hwang currently leads the evaluation and productization of AI internet services at Microsoft, where he is contributing to the dissemination of user-centric AI technologies through the groundbreaking “Copilot Search” project that has shifted paradigms in the AI search market. Dr. Hwang graduated early from Seoul National University in just three years, and later earned Ph.D. degrees from MIT in Materials Science and from UCLA in Business Administration. From 2010 to 2014, he served as a professor at McGill University, conducting research on big data-driven marketing strategies. He then worked at McKinsey & Company until 2021 as a big data scientist and cloud-based solution architect, where he applied advanced causal inference techniques—including experimental design, difference-in-differences analysis, and uplift modeling—to deliver business performance outcomes.

Henry Chung, who has also been appointed as an outside director, has been serving as CEO of KVI since 2020. He is a veteran expert with more than 30 years of experience in venture capital and startup support. Over the years, he has provided seed investment to more than 90 technology-based startups and has helped mitigate early-stage risks through mentoring and strategic advising. Mr. Chung earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Seoul National University in 1985 and a Master’s in Business Administration in 1987. He began his career as a strategy consultant at Monitor Group and Arthur D. Little. In 1999, he founded the venture company eCommunity Inc., marking his full-fledged entry into the startup ecosystem. From 2007 to 2020, he served as Co-CEO of Draper Athena Fund, where he led global tech investments. He is currently an adjunct professor in the Department of Business and Technology Management at KAIST.

With the appointment of Dr. Hwang to the board, Movensys plans to actively integrate AI technologies into its software-based motion control solution “WMX,” accelerating the advancement of control technologies and enabling the implementation of intelligent automation features.

Additionally, Mr. Chung is expected to play a key role in expanding collaboration and co-development opportunities with promising startups in the fields of AI and robotics, thereby enhancing Movensys’s open innovation strategy and contributing to the expansion of the AI ecosystem.

Keehoon Kim, CEO of Movensys, stated, “AI is not only the key to optimizing future control technologies but also a core driver in the software-centric transformation of entire factories. The addition of these two outside directors will serve as a pivotal turning point in refining our product development strategy centered on SDMC (Software Defined Motion Control) and strengthening our global competitiveness.”

Through this enhanced board structure, Movensys will continue to bolster its capabilities to respond to global market demands, focusing on two core strategies: applying AI technologies to WMX and building a forward-looking technology ecosystem.
